Responsibilities
The Hyperbaric Safety Coordinator under the direction of the department supervisor/administrator is responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of the hyperbaric chamber(s) and related equipment. Provides oversight for hyperbaric operations as it relates to the safety of the patient and safety of chamber operations. Provides hyperbaric training to nursing and technical personnel related to safe hyperbaric chamber operations, maintenance procedures and hyperbaric safety processes.
Qualifications
Completion of an NBDHMT recognized introductory hyperbaric medicine course or equivalent military training. Two or more years of experience in the operation and maintenance of monoplace hyperbaric chambers.
Additional qualifications:
Flexibility with hours, basic computer skills, ability to read and communicate effectively, problem solving, verbal and written communication and team building, basic improvement concepts and techniques, must have knowledge of standards and codes related to hyperbaric facilities and U.S. Navy Diving Manuals. Preferred: Experience working in a team environment. Leadership experience.
License or certification:
License approved by NBDHMT to qualify for CHT Certification (EMT, LPN, LVN, RT, RN). Certified Hyperbaric Technologist (CHT) certification required at time of hire. Completion of the Hyperbaric safety director course to be obtained within 18 months of hire.
