Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist dental hygienists with procedures and patient care, ensuring comfort and safety at all times.
- Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, ensuring that all necessary tools and supplies are available and sterilized.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work environment before and after procedures.
- Record patient care and maintain accurate files, updating dental records as necessary to reflect current treatments and conditions.
- Provide post-procedure instructions prescribed by the dentist or dental hygienist and ensure patients’ understanding of the same.
- Engage in patient education under the guidance of the dentist or hygienist, helping patients understand oral hygiene strategies.
- Take dental radiographs (x-rays) as required during patient examinations
- Ensure that all dental instruments are cleaned, dated, and processed according to established clinic guidelines and regulations.
- Manage patient scheduling and workflow to optimize efficiency and patient satisfaction.
- Participate in inventory control, ensuring adequate stocking and reordering of dental hygiene materials and tools.
- Attend and actively participate in staff meetings to enhance team coordination and dental service quality.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; further certification in dental assistance preferred.
- Certification as an X-ray technician specific to dental practices.
- Valid coronal polish certification.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills with a natural aptitude for patient care and customer service.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- demonstrated ability to follow oral and written instructions effectively and accurately.
- Basic understanding of dental terminology and anatomy.
- Experience in using electronic health records and dental software systems.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules and willing to support various roles as needed within the dental team.
