Hydraulic Engineer - Product Development
nAre you a Hydraulic Engineer who wants to work directly with the products you design and see your work move from concept through production?
nManpower Engineering is partnering with an established Milwaukee-area manufacturer to add a Hydraulic Engineer - Product Development to its engineering team.
nThis is a hands-on product development opportunity supporting hydraulic systems used in commercial mobile equipment. You'll be involved throughout the full product lifecycle, including concept development, system and component design, prototyping, testing, validation, production introduction, troubleshooting, and ongoing product improvement.
nThis isn't an engineering environment where designs simply get handed off once they're released. You'll work closely with manufacturing, have direct access to the equipment, and stay involved as products move from an idea to something being built and used in the field.
nYou'll also be joining at an interesting time. The organization is beginning a significant evolution of one of its major product platforms, creating an opportunity to contribute to new products and systems that will shape the portfolio for years to come.
nWhy This Opportunity Stands Out:
nWork directly with the hardware.
nThe company has hydraulic machining and assembly capabilities located close to the engineering team. You'll have the opportunity to work directly with components, prototypes, manufacturing, and finished equipment.
nOwn more than one piece of the engineering process.
nEngineers stay involved from early concepts and requirements through design, testing, production, launch, and ongoing product support.
nMake a visible impact.
nYou'll join a small, experienced engineering group where individual contributions matter. This isn't a position where you'll disappear inside a large engineering organization.
nHelp develop the next generation of products.
nSeveral projects are beginning around a major product-platform evolution. You'll have the opportunity to contribute to meaningful new product development rather than working exclusively on sustaining engineering.
nBuild your career in different directions.
nThis position is open because the previous engineer moved into another area of the organization. Engineers have opportunities to grow technically, take on greater project responsibility, move toward leadership, or explore other functions within the business.
nWhat You'll Be Doing:
n- n
- n
Design, develop, test, and support hydraulic systems and components used in commercial mobile equipment.
n n - n
Participate in new product development from initial concepts and requirements through design, prototype development, testing, validation, and production.
n n - n
Work directly with hydraulic components, assemblies, and physical prototypes.
n n - n
Evaluate components and engineering solutions based on performance, reliability, manufacturability, cost, availability, and application requirements.
n n - n
Develop and execute test and validation plans.
n n - n
Troubleshoot hydraulic system and product-performance issues.
n n - n
Investigate field and quality issues, determine root causes, develop solutions, and validate corrective actions.
n n - n
Work closely with manufacturing and internal machining capabilities to develop, modify, and test hydraulic hardware.
n n - n
Support existing products through sustaining engineering and continuous product improvement.
n n - n
Partner with electrical, mechanical, manufacturing, sourcing, marketing, technical service, and other engineering resources.
n n - n
Manage multiple engineering projects and priorities in a fast-moving product environment.
n n - n
Contribute to upcoming product-platform and next-generation development initiatives.
n n
What We're Looking For:
n- n
- n
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related engineering discipline.
n n - n
Ideally 2+ years of engineering experience involving hydraulic systems, fluid power, mobile equipment, industrial equipment, or a related product environment.
n n - n
Practical experience working with hydraulic systems and components.
n n - n
Understanding of hydraulic system operation, application, testing, and troubleshooting.
n n - n
Hands-on approach to engineering and problem solving.
n n - n
Ability to work comfortably with physical products, prototypes, and manufacturing operations.
n n - n
Ability to manage multiple projects and changing priorities.
n n - n
Self-directed working style with the ability to take ownership without requiring constant direction.
n n - n
Strong communication skills and the ability to work across engineering, manufacturing, sourcing, and other business functions.
n n
Experience That Would Be a Plus:
nYou don't need to check every box. Relevant experience could include:
n- n
- n
Mobile hydraulic systems
n n - n
Fluid power systems
n n - n
Off-highway or commercial equipment
n n - n
Agricultural or construction equipment
n n - n
Hydraulic cylinders and actuation systems
n n - n
Pumps, valves, manifolds, or related hydraulic components
n n - n
Hydraulic component selection and application
n n - n
Hydraulic system testing and troubleshooting
n n - n
Automation Studio
n n - n
SolidWorks
n n - n
Manufacturing, machining, or prototype development
n n - n
Electromechanical product development
n n - n
Electrical, controls, or mechatronics experience
n n
Experience that crosses both hydraulic and electrical systems would be particularly valuable, but it isn't required.
nWho Will Do Well Here?
nSomeone who likes getting their hands on the product.
nSomeone who doesn't want to spend every day behind a computer designing something they'll never actually see being built.
nSomeone who's comfortable moving between engineering work, prototype development, testing, troubleshooting, and the manufacturing floor.
nSomeone who can take a problem, dig into it, figure out what's happening, and work with the team to develop a practical solution.
nYou don't need experience in this exact industry. Backgrounds involving mobile hydraulics, agricultural equipment, construction equipment, off-highway equipment, industrial machinery, fluid power, or other hydraulically operated products can translate well.
nWhat matters is that you've worked with real hydraulic systems, understand how the components interact, and enjoy hands-on product engineering.
nCompensation, Benefits & Work Environment
n- n
- n
Competitive base salary based on experience
n n - n
Eligible for company profit sharing
