Hydraulic AssemblerThe Hydraulic Assembler builds and installs controls and hydraulic components on heavy equipment in a production environment. This role focuses on assembling and installing components and subassemblies using a variety of methods and techniques, including drilling, tapping, punching, machining, wiring, low-voltage electrical work, hydraulic plumbing (hard line and hose), and testing equipment according to design specifications. You will use hand and power tools, work from blueprints and schematics, and ensure that completed assemblies meet quality and performance standards.ResponsibilitiesAssemble and install mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic components and subassemblies onto heavy equipment according to design specifications and work instructions.Perform drilling, tapping, punching, machining, and other fabrication-related tasks required to prepare and fit components.Lay out, terminate, and connect low-voltage wiring and hydraulic plumbing (hard line and hose) in accordance with schematics, blueprints, and safety standards.Install mechanical equipment and hardware using hand and power tools, ensuring proper alignment, fit, and function.Conduct operational testing of completed assemblies and perform repairs or modifications as required to meet performance and quality requirements.Read, interpret, and follow drawings, blueprints, schematics, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and written procedures.Use measuring tools such as tape measures and other layout tools to perform accurate measurements and calculations related to equipment assembly.Work collaboratively with other disciplines, including engineering, fabrication, and stores, to coordinate work and adapt to changing priorities.Follow repetitive assembly processes while maintaining attention to detail and adherence to quality and safety standards.Lift, move, and position parts and equipment components weighing up to 50 pounds as part of daily assembly tasks.Stand, bend, and climb for extended periods while performing assembly work on equipment in the shop and yard.Follow verbal instructions from supervisors and team leads and communicate effectively about progress, issues, and safety concerns.Maintain a clean and organized work area and properly use and care for hand and power tools and other equipment.Comply with all safety rules and requirements, including the use of appropriate personal protective equipment such as hearing protection.Essential SkillsAt least three (3) years of practical experience in the assembly of heavy machinery, equipment, or closely related disciplines, demonstrated through employment history, training, certification, interview, and/or practical tests.Ability to perform specific technical tasks using common tools and equipment used in heavy equipment assembly, including wiring layout, termination, and connection, hydraulic plumbing, and mechanical installation.Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience in mechanical assembly and production work.Proficiency in reading, interpreting, and following drawings, blueprints, and schematics for mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.Experience with low-voltage wiring and electrical assembly in an industrial or production environment.Minimum of 2+ years of experience working in a production environment.Ability to perform basic calculations and solve practical problems related to the assembly of heavy equipment.Competence in using hand and power tools, including drills, taps, punches, and measuring tools such as tape measures.Ability to stand, bend, and climb for long periods while performing assembly tasks.Capability to lift and handle items up to 50 pounds safely and repeatedly.Ability to read and understand safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural documents.Capacity to follow repetitive work processes and verbal instructions while maintaining accuracy and consistency.General mechanical knowledge of methods, techniques, materials, and tools used in heavy equipment assembly.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience assembling heavy machinery such as water and fuel tanks, trailers, or equipment transports used in construction or mining applications.Background in controls assembly or working in an industrial shop environment.Comfort working both indoors in a shop and outdoors in a yard, including exposure to varying weather conditions.Ability to interact effectively with engineering, fabrication, and stores teams in a flexible, cross-functional environment.Attention to detail and commitment to quality when testing and modifying completed assemblies.Basic numerical ability and willingness to learn and apply new procedures and techniques as needed.Why Work Here?You will join a close-knit, hard-working team that takes pride in building meaningful equipment used in demanding construction and mining applications around the world. Approximately 75% of the work takes place inside a controls assembly room within the shop, and about 25% occurs in the yard outdoors, where you may be exposed to cold, hot, or wet weather conditions. The culture is close knit and hard working, with a strong focus on safety and teamwork. Hearing protection is required, and appropriate personal protective equipment must be worn as directed. Work is performed on a MondayFriday shift schedule in a production environment using hand and power tools, measuring devices, and heavy equipment components.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Albuquerque, NM.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.00 - $28.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
