Consider joining our team in a hybrid position in a cross‑training role which includes both bedside nursing shifts and an opportunity to grow new skills as a virtual nurse. Our Virtual Nursing Command Center uses advanced technology to provide patients with extra monitoring from admission to discharge. Virtual nurses are centrally located at Cox South and support bedside RNs by monitoring vital signs, assisting with admissions and discharges, and collaborating with physicians, pharmacists, respiratory therapists, and the Early Intervention Team. This role allows you to expand nursing knowledge in a virtual setting.

Job Summary

The Medical‑Surgical nurse is responsible for managing the care of adult or geriatric patients with general medical conditions or general surgical procedures. Duties include assessing patient condition, administering medications, changing dressings, monitoring vital signs, keeping records, and providing patients and families with support and education. The hybrid virtual eAcute nurse works at least one shift per pay period as an eAcute Virtual Med‑Surg nurse and the remainder of shifts as a bedside nurse. The eAcute nurse assists with admissions, discharge processes, care plan development, patient education, medication and discharge teaching, care coordination, mentoring new nurses, and applying evidence‑based care. After a 12‑week orientation as a bedside nurse, virtual training begins.

Education

• Required: Graduate of an accredited nursing program or NLN approved program
• Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing

Experience

• Required: At least two years’ nursing experience
• Preferred: Preceptor and Charge nurse experience
