Job Description
MAJOR TASKS:
* Operates, schedules, and verifies proper operation of HVAC on a daily basis.
* Performs repairs to Energy Management System district wide, and any related equipment including thermostats, actuators, controllers and indoor air quality sensors.
* Performs routine and demand maintenance for Central Plants district wide including boilers, chillers, pumps, air compressors, and air handlers.
* Implements and carries out a preventative maintenance routine for all Central Plant related equipment district wide.
* Manages and maintains water treatment program on all cooling towers district wide.
* Manages and coordinates outside contractor work to Central Plant equipment district wide.
* Schedules daily and special events for power and climate control.
* Makes changes and checks alarms from remote locations via a laptop computer.
* Is available on an on-call basis for problem resolution after hours.
* All other duties as assigned by the Director of Facilities
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Certification as a Central Plant operator or three (3) years experience in Central Plant operations.
* Trade school certificate or two (2) year degree preferred.
* Experience with HVAC service and repairs; includinbg fan coil and chillers
* Three (3) years experience operating and troubleshooting energy management hardware and software.
* Must be computer literate.
* Understands basic computer networking.
* Understands operation of valve and damper actuators, pressure transducers, and air quality monitors.
* Must be able to work hands-on with mechanical equipment.
* EPA refrigerant certificationrequired (will support employee in obtaining)
* Must be able to work with and around hazardous chemicals such as chlorine, acids, refrigerant, lithium bromide, natural gas, and diesel fuel.
* Understanding of basic plumbing
* Available on a 24- hour basis for emergencies and special events.
