Responsibilities

The HVAC Release Engineer is responsible for the development and validation of the automotive HVAC compressor and A/C lines. The candidate will ensure the components meet performance objectives and will coordinate development with other functional areas such as powertrain, BIW, Aero/Thermal, Engine Cooling and suppliers. Duties will include writing source packages, specifications, requirements, change notices and overall supplier management to meet program timing and deliverables. The candidate will maintain a component and sub-system DVP&R, support and keep up to date with component bench testing, simulation, drive‑cell and static cell test results, perform data analysis and establish proper corrective actions as required. They will lead a virtual team to design and perform CFD and FEA analysis for components to meet performance and will also support pilot and pre‑production build processes at the assembly plant for the development and installation of AC line and compressors.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering (or equivalent) from an ABET accredited university.
  • 3+ years of experience in HVAC compressors and/or A/C line design/development. Other related design experience (Engine cooling, Aero‑Thermal) is a plus.
  • Very good knowledge of Unigraphics NX and CATIA.
  • Strong PC and MS Office skills; excellent written, verbal, listening, and interpersonal communication.
  • Self‑starter and motivated to produce results.
  • Experience with Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (DFMEA).
  • Experience with Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R).
  • Basic thermodynamics knowledge.
  • Experience with e‐compressors, chillers, and EV components is a plus.
  • Experience with Design for Six Sigma (DFSS).
  • Knowledge of HVAC system engineering.
  • Previous experience as an AC line design and release engineer.
