HVAC Project ManagerA growing commercial mechanical contractor seeks a HVAC Project Manager to oversee projects from initial bid through final closeout in the Overland Park and Olathe markets. You will manage project budgets, coordinate with engineers and subcontractors, and ensure on-time delivery of commercial heating, ventilation, and air conditioning installations. This Senior Project Manager role requires strong technical knowledge of HVAC systems combined with proven leadership abilities.What We Offer (Benefits & Compensation)Annual salary range of $105,000 to $120,000 based on experienceComprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance with employer contribution401(k) retirement plan with company matchPaid time off and major holidaysProfessional development allowance for PMP renewal or ASHRAE certificationsKey Responsibilities – Commercial HVAC Project ManagerOversee commercial HVAC projects ranging from $500K to $5M+ including budget development, scheduling, procurement, and quality controlCoordinate daily with architects, engineers, general contractors, and internal installation teams to maintain project timelines and resolve technical issuesPrepare competitive bids and cost estimates using Bluebeam, MS Project, or similar software; conduct site assessments and material takeoffsManage submittal processes, permitting, inspections, and compliance with local building codes and ASHRAE standardsLead weekly project meetings, track change orders, and provide executive reporting on project health and profitabilityQualifications – HVAC Project ManagerMinimum 3 years of progressively responsible experience managing commercial HVAC projects; bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, construction management, or related field preferredActive PMP, LEED AP, or Certified HVAC Designer (CHD) credential strongly preferred; EPA certification for refrigerant handling requiredDemonstrated proficiency with project management software (MS Project, Primavera), estimation tools (Bluebeam, AutoCAD), and Microsoft Office SuiteProven track record managing projects $1M+ with ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and load calculationsExcellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills with ability to manage multiple concurrent projectsPreferred Qualifications – Commercial HVAC Project ManagerExperience with design-build or design-assist delivery methods on institutional or industrial projectsFamiliarity with BIM coordination and clash detection workflowsActive relationships with local MEP subcontractors and suppliers in Kansas City metroPhysical Requirements – HVAC Project ManagerRegular travel to active construction sites requiring walking, standing for extended periods, and navigating uneven terrain or partially completed structuresAbility to climb ladders and lift up to 25 pounds occasionally during site inspectionsWork performed in both climate-controlled office settings and job sites exposed to weather conditions; standard business hours with occasional evening or weekend site visits during critical project phasesValid driver's license and reliable transportation for travel within 50-mile radius of Overland Park/OlatheAbility to wear required PPE including hard hat, safety glasses, and steel-toed boots on jobsites
