Position Overview
An established mechanical contractor is seeking an experienced HVAC Lead Estimator to oversee estimating and bid preparation for commercial and industrial HVAC construction projects. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge of HVAC systems and the ability to independently prepare accurate, competitive estimates from initial drawings through final bid submission.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed estimates for commercial and industrial HVAC construction projects.
- Review mechanical drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
- Perform quantity takeoffs for ductwork, sheet metal, equipment, piping, and related HVAC systems.
- Calculate labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- Obtain and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing.
- Develop competitive bids, proposals, and project budgets.
- Collaborate with project managers, field supervisors, and preconstruction teams.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and potential project risks.
Qualifications
- 4+ years of HVAC estimating experience, preferably with a commercial mechanical contractor.
- Strong knowledge of commercial HVAC systems, ductwork, and mechanical installation practices.
- Experience independently preparing complete HVAC construction estimates.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications.
- Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
Compensation: Competitive base salary up to $125K, depending on experience.
