Snapshot / Role Overview
We're seeking a Chiller Technician in Houston, TX to diagnose, repair, and maintain complex industrial cooling systems for a growing mechanical service provider.

- Ensures the operational efficiency of critical cooling infrastructure for commercial and industrial clients.
- Minimizes system downtime through precise technical troubleshooting and preventative maintenance.
- Drives customer satisfaction by providing clear technical explanations and reliable repair recommendations.
- Promotes a culture of safety and quality through independent field excellence.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and resolve technical failures in both air-cooled and water-cooled chiller systems.
- Troubleshoot hydronic systems including system pumps and complex water balance issues.
- Maintain and repair cooling towers and evaporative condensers to ensure peak performance.
- Interface with York, Trane, and Carrier microprocessor controls to evaluate system data.
- Manage repairs for Variable Frequency Drives and various types of motor starters.
- Coordinate with dispatchers to respond to high-priority service calls and emergency repairs.
- Document all work orders, parts lists, and technical findings through daily digital reporting.
- Communicate technical problems and modernization options clearly to facility managers and owners.
- Adhere to all company safety protocols and defensive driving standards during site visits.
- Optimize system performance through proactive adjustments and component upgrades.
Requirements
Must-Haves
- 8 or more years of professional experience in the HVAC industry focused on chiller systems.
- Proven expertise in troubleshooting water-cooled and air-cooled industrial chillers.
- Strong ability to work independently in the field with minimal direct supervision.
- Valid driver license and a clean driving record for travel to regional customer sites.
- Clear communication skills for interacting with plant personnel and building owners.
Nice-to-Haves
- Advanced certification in specific chiller manufacturer platforms like Trane or York.
- Experience with large-scale cooling tower rebuilds or heavy mechanical overhauls.
- EPA Universal certification for refrigerant handling.
