About SDV Fenchurch

SDV Fenchurch is a global law firm built exclusively for policyholders. We are building a connected global firm grounded in excellence, respect, inclusion, collaboration and development. As SDV Fenchurch continues to grow, we are strengthening the systems, processes and teams that support our people and our business. This is a meaningful opportunity for an HR professional who enjoys taking ownership, improving how work gets done, and helping create an exceptional employee experience.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Human Resources Operations Specialist to join our team in Trumbull, Connecticut. This hands-on role is designed for an HR professional who keeps work moving, catches the details others may miss, and takes ownership of processes from start to finish.

You will support employees throughout the employment lifecycle while managing key HR operations, including HRIS administration, benefits, leaves, onboarding and offboarding, compliance, reporting, and employee records. You should be comfortable anticipating next steps, applying sound judgment, identifying potential issues, and knowing when escalation is appropriate.

What You’ll Do

  • Own day-to-day HR operational processes from initiation through completion, ensuring deadlines, documentation, communications, and follow-up are handled accurately and on time.
  • Coordinate the full onboarding process, including offer documentation, background checks, new hire paperwork, Form I-9, HRIS setup, orientation, benefits enrollment, and new-hire documentation.
  • Manage offboarding activities, including separation documentation, benefit terminations, COBRA coordination, system updates, and employee records.
  • Serve as a primary administrator of UKG Ready, maintaining employee data, workflows, reporting, audits, and overall data integrity.
  • Administer employee benefits, including enrollments, qualifying life events, terminations, eligibility, employee questions, vendor coordination, and monthly invoice reconciliation.
  • Coordinate leaves of absence and related documentation and communication, applying working knowledge of FMLA, ADA, and applicable state leave requirements.
  • Prepare recurring and ad hoc HR reports and assist with required federal and state reporting.
  • Support HR, benefits, payroll, 401(k), workers’ compensation, personnel-file, and other audits.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and proactively monitor recurring HR and compliance deadlines.
  • Handle employment verifications, unemployment claims, compliance notices, and other HR documentation.
  • Serve as a responsive and knowledgeable resource for employee questions, resolving routine matters independently and escalating more complex issues appropriately.
  • Support policies, handbook updates, HR communications, training, orientation, engagement initiatives, and other HR projects.
  • Coordinate recruitment for select non-attorney positions, including job postings, interview scheduling, candidate communication, and pre-employment activities.
  • Identify opportunities to improve HR processes, increase consistency, and create a better employee experience.

What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years of progressively responsible HR operations experience, with demonstrated responsibility for independently managing HR processes.
  • Working knowledge of federal and multi-state employment laws and HR compliance fundamentals.
  • Hands-on HRIS experience. UKG Ready experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience administering benefits, employee leaves, and accommodations.
  • Strong judgment and the ability to recognize when an issue can be handled independently and when it should be escalated.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and recurring deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A genuinely service-oriented approach and the ability to work professionally with employees at all levels.
  • Experience in a multi-state professional services environment is strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
  • PHR, SHRM-CP, or similar HR certification is a plus.

Schedule
