You’ll also play a key part in maintaining compliance, managing workers’ compensation claims, and ensuring accurate benefit deductions and rate updates. Human Resources Generalist Responsibilities:

  • Employee Relations & Engagement - Coordinate meetings, plan employee events, support internal communications, and serve as a friendly, reliable resource for day‑to‑day employee questions.
  • Benefits Administration - Assist employees with benefit enrollment, manage annual open enrollment, process benefit changes, track rate increases, and ensure accurate deductions.
  • Workers’ Compensation Management - Handle claims, documentation, and communication with employees and carriers to ensure timely and compliant case resolution.
  • HRIS & Data Administration - Maintain employee data, perform accurate data entry, and serve as the go‑to expert for navigating the HRIS system.
  • Policies & Procedures - Help employees understand policies, ensure consistent application, and support HR leadership with documentation and compliance needs.
  • Back up to other HR functions

Human Resources Generalist Education & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3+ years in human resources
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Tech‑savvy with the ability to learn systems quickly; Paychex experience is a plus
  • Ability to build relationships, stay organized, and handle confidential information with professionalism
  • A positive, solutions‑focused mindset and a desire to make HR approachable and effective
Salary: $65,000-$75,000
Location: Portage, MI
