Job SummaryThe Human Resources Generalist has responsibilities that include, but are not limited to, finding, screening and hiring qualified candidates for staff and faculty position openings, onboarding, and other generalist tasks. This is a full-time position that reports to LSCPA's Human Resources Department.Duties/ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement effective recruiting strategies to attract a pool of qualified candidatesCollaborate with hiring managers to identify job requirements and draft detailed, compliant job descriptionsPost all jobs via the college's applicant tracking system (ATS)Monitor candidate pool to determine need, if applicable, of recruitment advertisingBuild scoring criteria based upon bona fide occupational requirements per the posted job description for hiring manager review and approvalUtilize the blind scoring process to determine which candidates are best qualified to interviewDraft interview questions for hiring manager review and approval before applicationSchedule and coordinate interviews with hiring managers and their interview committee membersCompletes all pre-employment checks (references and criminal history); ensuring campus standards are maintainedSuggests starting salaries to hiring manager within campus guidelines and job posting range; partners with HR leadership to ensure alignmentObtain internal approvals to hire and then extend offers of employment to final candidatesEnsure new hire paperwork and other onboarding items are completeMaintain regular communication with hiring manager regarding status of candidates and positionsDispositions job postings and candidates within the ATSFacilitates the successful and welcoming onboarding of new hires; partnering closing with the hiring manager and other support departments to ensure all are well-prepared for the new hire's first dayPerforms check-ins with new hires to help ensure retentionTrack and report efficacy of recruitment advertisingKeep abreast of trends and recruiting techniques to remain competitiveMaintain HR job site and ATS, ensuring notices, templates and other items are up-to-date and branded accordinglyParticipate in job fairs, as needed, and other proactive recruiting activitiesProvide consistent and superb customer service, remembering at all times of the impact this role has on a candidate's first impression and experience with the collegeAssist in maintenance of Learning Management System (LMS), ensuring employee complianceAssist with administration of the Work Compensation Program, including claim submissionComply with campus policies and proceduresOther related duties, as assignedMinimum/Preferred QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in a related field from a regionally accredited college or universityThree (3) or more years of relevant experience in Human ResourcesValid driver's licensePreferred Qualifications:Higher education work experiencePrior experience as an HR Generalist or RecruiterBanner ERP experienceSupplemental InformationKnowledge/Skills/Abilities:Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage and interact with various individuals, both internally and externallyExpertise in using HR/Recruiting software or platformsEffective negotiation, sales and customer service skillsStrong organizational and time management skillsAbility to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriatelyFamiliar with social media, resume databases, and professional networks for recruiting purposesPhysical Requirements: This position requires employees to remain in a stationary position most of the time; move to various locations on campus; move about inside an office to access documents, office equipment, etc.; and operate a computer or other office equipment, such as a printer or copy machine.Lamar State College Port Arthur is an E-Verify Employer.This position is security-sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code §51.215, which authorizes the employer to obtain criminal history record information.
