Human Resources DirectorThe Human Resources Director acts in a key leadership role within Kenaitze Indian Tribe whose primary responsibility is the oversight of the Tribe's human resources functions. The Director provides guidance to the Executive Director of Tribal Administration and Director of Health Systems in planning and implementing human resources goals, initiatives and structure in alignment with the Tribe's values and vision. The Director reports to the Executive Director of Tribal Administration and responds to budgetary and performance measures, achievement of goals and strategies, and results of monitoring functions.

This position works towards and encourages collaboration with the Tribe's programs and outside agencies to carry out optimal customer care and support services.Essential FunctionsResponsible for human resources strategic and annual planningSupport and promote Tribal and Native hire preference by working collaboratively with the TERO ManagerResponsible for the development and maintenance of the Tribe's compensation and performance management systemsAdminister employee benefits, including workers' compensation insurance process, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and 401(k). Responsible for overseeing benefit renewals and notifications to staffAssists Directors in the development and implementation of staff training and development programsWork in conjunction with the TERO Manager to ensure the Tribe's recruitment process incorporates optimum internal customer service and best practice, and be directly involved in the recruitment of director and high level health system positionsOversight of personnel records managementEnsure the Tribe's compliance with applicable state and federal employment laws, including reporting requirementsDevelop personnel policies and procedures and provide guidance to the Tribe's supervisors and staff regarding laws and Tribal policies and proceduresConduct personnel investigations and work collaboratively with the TERO Manager on all TERO employee investigationsIt is the intent of this job description to highlight the essential functions of the position; however, it is not an all-inclusive list. Society of Human Resource Management Certified Professional or Senior Certified Professional, and Certified Compensation Professional (CCP)Valid Alaska driver license and must remain insurable under the Tribe's policySpecial SkillsStrong conflict management and investigation skillsKnowledge of state and federal employment and safety laws, and how they apply to TribesKnowledge and experience working with cultural diversitiesThis position is a Covered Position subject to all requirements of the Alaska Barrier Crimes Act (ABCA) and to the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act, (ICPA).
