We're seeking a Human Resources Manager to lead and execute our day-to-day HR operations while supporting a positive, compliant, and people-centered workplace.North Suburban Legal Aid Clinic (NSLAC) is a dynamic nonprofit with a collaborative culture and the goal of becoming the model legal aid organization focused on suburban communities. The mission of NSLAC is to provide accessible, quality, equitable, free legal services in the areas of domestic violence, housing, and immigration to give low-income, at-risk community members access to justice and the opportunity to live productive and secure lives.As our HR Manager, you will oversee the full employee lifecycle—from recruitment and onboarding to performance management, payroll coordination, and employee relations.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on execution, and who values collaboration, integrity, and continuous improvement.What You'll DoManage full-cycle recruitment, including job postings, candidate review, and interview coordinationLead onboarding processes, ensuring a seamless new hire experienceAdminister payroll and benefits processes with a high level of accuracySupport performance management, including reviews and employee developmentServe as a confidential resource for employee relations, coaching, and conflict resolutionEnsure compliance with HR policies, employment laws, and organizational proceduresCoordinate required trainings and maintain HR records and systemsOversee internship program recruitment and administrationWhat You BringBachelor's degree in HR, Psychology, or related field (PHR/SPHR preferred)5+ years of progressive HR experience, including operations and complianceExperience with HRIS systems (BambooHR preferred)Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.Exceptional organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple prioritiesHigh level of discretion, professionalism, and integritySalary and Benefits :$70,000-$80,000 annually, commensurate with experience;Hybrid work schedule;Generous vacation policy including paid time off, sick leave, and paid holidays;Employer paid Health, dental, vision and life insurance; 401(k) entry available upon hire.Why Join UsMake a meaningful impact in a mission-driven nonprofit environmentWork closely with leadership and staff across the organizationHelp shape and strengthen HR systems and employee experienceOur offices are located conveniently to a Metra train stop.NSLAC is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to provide equal employment opportunities in all employment practices.
