Schedule/Hours: M-F 3:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. (27.5 hours per week).

This position is responsible for:

Accepts and processes residents staying in lodge/shelter overnight; monitors the activity of residents on an assigned shift ensuring safety, security, and compliance to house rules; maintains accurate and complete records and logs containing pertinent information; ensures that lodge/shelter is maintained in a neat and proper order. Must be able to work evenings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Checks clients into the lodge/shelter; prepares and monitors client intake cards; determines shelter beds for new clients; completes bed check at end of shift.
  • Completes required paperwork representing client intake for the day; inputs data into the computer in order to maintain computer records and generate client list.
  • Prepares and distributes meal tickets; distributes towels, linens, and personal hygiene items; secures and distributes client medications as required.
  • Monitors the activities of the lodge/shelter residents ensuring safety and compliance with house rules; checks the security of all windows and doors; monitors cameras and makes periodic rounds of entire facility; records any unique situations occurring on assigned shift.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Ability to respond to emergency situations quickly and calmly while maintaining control and initiating the proper corrective action.
  • Ability to perform combinations of sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent change basis. Distance of travel is usually within the same building.
  • Ability to work with the public encompassing all types of behaviors.
  • Ability to work independently and with limited supervision while enforcing established policies and procedures.
  • Work is performed in a lodge/shelter facility where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.

What we are looking for in you:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. AND
  • One year experience performing security or social service work preferred OR
  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
