Both parents work demanding professional schedules and we have two young children at home, an infant and a toddler who is starting pre-K this fall. We also have a wonderful live-in au pair who primarily cares for the baby during the day.Our evenings are where the real action happens. Between pickups, dinner, bath time, and bedtime routines for two kids at very different stages, the 5:00-8:00 PM window can feel like a sprint. We've built good systems and have support in place, but we need a steady, capable person to tie it all together in the evenings and keep the household humming. We are a warm, close-knit family who values calm, structure, and consistency — especially for our kids. We're looking for someone who wants to grow with us long-term, through au pair transitions and all the changes that come with young children. Our Lab is enthusiastically friendly and a big personality in his own right, so a love of dogs is a genuine must.Who You Are / What We're Looking ForOur ideal candidate is calm, steady, and self-directed. You don't need to be told what needs doing once you've learned the household — you notice and act. You're nurturing with children and know how to hold a gentle but firm line with a strong-willed preschooler without escalating. You bring structure and quiet confidence into the evening routine rather than adding to the noise. You're equally comfortable cooking a healthy dinner, managing a household supply list, and doing a quick reset of the common areas. You read the room well — you can have a warm, easy rapport with the family while also knowing when it's time to put your head down and get things done. Reliability is a non-negotiable for our family. You show up when you say you will, communicate proactively, and bring the kind of dependable presence that lets two working parents exhale. Overall, you are someone looking to build a lasting, meaningful relationship with a family, growing alongside their children and evolving with their household needs over the coming years.
Experience working alongside other household staff is a plus, and a genuine love of dogs is a must.Key ResponsibilitiesFamily Support & Child AssistanceAssist with pick-ups from preschoolLight supervision and back-up childcarePrep backpacks, clothing, snacks as neededAssist with kid-related errands as neededHousehold Management & OrganizationMaintain household organization systemsDaily resets and prep home for cleanersLight tidying (dishes, surfaces, vacuum high-traffic areas)Seasonal swaps (clothing, décor, bedding)Prepare and coordinate donation drop-offsAssist with event/holiday/guest prep as neededPacking and unpacking for travel as neededManage indoor plant careMeal Planning & PrepPlan and prepare approximately 2 dinners per week, fully cooked and ready-to-eatManage grocery shopping (Whole Foods Delivery)Follow dietary needs/preferences (plant-based)Kitchen cleanup after meal prep and maintain kitchen tidinessInventory & ErrandsRestock pantry, fridge, and household suppliesManage household supply listsManage household orders and subscriptions (Amazon/Costco/Target/Whole Foods)Assist with returns, dry cleaning, and gift shopping as neededAssist with mail and package handlingBreakdown boxes from weekly subscription deliveriesLaundry & Linen CareOrganize and put away laundry (delivered by laundry services bi-weekly)Special garment care, including ironing and steamingMaintain tidy and well stocked laundry areasPet CareFeeding the dog once per dayAssist with scheduling vet and grooming appointmentsAdminister medications (once monthly)Maintain pet suppliesAdministrative & Personal Assistant SupportMaintain awareness of family calendar (including household schedules)Receipt and budget tracking for expenses incurred as House ManagerSupport event and appointment coordination as neededDeep Cleaning & Special ProjectsOccasional deep cleans (fridge, oven, baseboards)Refresh entrywayOrganizational projects (toys, gear, closets, pantry)Vehicle ManagementAssist with maintenance schedule for family car as neededFueling, cleaning, and organizing family vehicles as neededVendor & Property OversightOversee cleaners, contractors, and landscapersCoordinate and schedule repairs through home warranty service as neededSeasonal property maintenanceManage outdoor spaces (including watering plants)How to ApplyPlease submit the following:A brief cover letter explaining why you'd be a good fit for this roleYour updated resumeAt least 3 professional references with their contact informationPlease Note: This role requires a background check.Disclaimer: When you apply with Sage Haus, you'll also be added to our candidate community email list so we can share hiring updates, resources, and opportunities.
