House Manager & Family Assistant (with Meal Prep Support)Location: San Jose, CA 95126Employment Type: Part-time (15–20 hours per week)Proposed Schedule: Monday–Friday, 1:30-5:30pm. Both parents work full-time —as a physician with a full schedule and in tech with frequent travel. Our two children, ages 6 and 3, are active, curious, and playful.

They both enjoy time outdoors and love creative activities like art, science projects, and exploring new things. They also participate in after school activities such as swimming.We're seeking a proactive, kind, and highly organized partner to help keep our home running smoothly, help with home systems, and to occasionally lend a hand with the kids. Our ideal candidate is calm, creative, and takes initiative — someone who sees what needs to be done, communicates clearly, and brings structure and care to the home environment. We value reliability, autonomy, and long-term collaboration.

We want someone we can trust, be in partnership with, and who can be a reliable support person for our family. Ideally, you have a background in childhood education or experience with childcare.Key ResponsibilitiesHousehold Management & OrganizationMaintain daily tidiness throughout the home and reset key areas (kitchen, playroom, family spaces).Load/unload dishwasher, wipe surfaces, vacuum high traffic areas, sweeping under the tableCreate and maintain household systems (e.g., closets, storage, pantry, toy organization, etc.)Conduct seasonal swaps (clothing, décor, bedding) and prepare donations/pickups.Ensure spaces are prepped for weekly cleaning services.Oversee family and household calendars; help ensure smooth transitions for weekly activities.Support general home maintenance (changing filters, light bulbs, etc.) and help coordinate vendors for seasonal tasks (e.g., irrigation, HVAC, pruning).Inventory & ErrandsTrack and restock pantry, fridge, toiletries, household suppliesCreate and manage running household supply listsCoordinate and manage household orders (Amazon, Costco, Target, etc.)Run errands: grocery shopping, returns, dry cleaning, gift shoppingHandle package pickup, mail sorting, and deliveriesMeal Planning & PreparationPlan and prep healthy, balanced meals for adults and kids (2–3 dinners per week).Prep items for school lunches (e.g., cut fruit, pack snacks).Grocery shop for fresh ingredients, pantry staples, and meal-related items.Follow family preferences: veggie-forward, plant-based, balanced meals (protein, veggie, carb).Clean/ reset kitchen and keep tidy and organized after meal prep.Laundry & Linen CareWash, dry, fold, and organize family laundry.Keep laundry areas tidy and well-stocked with suppliesVendor & Property OversightTrack monthly/quarterly/yearly home upkeep tasks and assist in scheduling vendorsFamily & Child SupportHelp with occasional school/activity pickups (2–4x/month).Provide light childcare and play supervision (arts & crafts, outdoor play, creative activities).Offer back-up childcare coverageAssist with 1–2 date nights per monthDeep Cleaning & Household ProjectsPeriodic deep cleaning of fridge, oven, and other high-use areas.Help refresh and organize spaces such as the mudroom, garage, or special rooms.Support special projects like photo framing, seasonal decorations, or fruit harvesting from family trees.Administrative & Personal Assistant SupportHelp manage calendars and reminders (appointments, school schedules, activity schedules, helping to coordinate playdates).Support travel and logistics planning.Research local activities, camps, or weekend ideas for family fun.Assist with coordination of events, appointments, and guest prepThe Ideal CandidateYou are warm, organized, and proactive — a true partner in creating order and calm for a busy household.
