Hospitalist Physician

Optum WA (formerly The Everett Clinic) is seeking a growth-minded Internal Medicine physician to join their team in Everett, WA. This unique role involves dividing clinical time between inpatient hospitalist medicine and complex urgent care for seniors, focusing on medically complex patients and high-acuity outpatient alternatives to hospitalization. As part of Optum Care Delivery, you will contribute to a clinician-led organization dedicated to improving healthcare.

Practice Info

• Divide clinical time between inpatient hospitalist medicine and complex urgent care for seniors
• Focus on caring for medically complex patients in innovative ways, including providing high-acuity outpatient alternatives to hospitalization
• A majority of shifts are inpatient hospitalist shifts, with the remaining shifts in complex urgent care
• Hospitalist team is well supported and works closely with ICU, emergency department, specialty, and palliative care partners
• Hospitalist team has strong ties to the Washington State University residency program, with residents rotating through the service
• Optum Advantage Clinic provides a high-touch alternative to the emergency department and hospitalization for eligible patients, including intensive outpatient treatment when needed

Responsibilities

• Provide hospitalist care
• Work closely with ICU, emergency department, specialty, and palliative care partners
• Provide intensive outpatient treatment when needed, with multiple visits over several hours in a single day at the Optum Advantage Clinic
• Provide services such as IV diuresis, IV antibiotics, expedited virtual specialty consultation, imaging including X-ray and CT, and procedures at the Optum Advantage Clinic

Compensation

• Compensation for this specialty generally ranges from $125 to $186.86 per hour
• Total cash compensation includes base pay and bonus
• Compensation is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience and may increase over time based on productivity and performance in the role

Requirements

• Unrestricted Washington State medical license by employment date
• Current Washington State DEA certificate by employment date
• Board eligible or board certified in Internal Medicine
• Proficiency with electronic medical records
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Preferred: Managed care experience
• Preferred: One or more years of experience post-training
• Preferred: Experience caring for complex geriatric patients
