Physician, Hospitalist

Sutter Medical Group (SMG) is seeking a Physician – Hospitalist to join its established Hospital Medicine team at Sutter Medical Center Sacramento in Sacramento, California. This role offers an opportunity to work within a highly collegial environment with strong support systems. The position emphasizes physician-led care and a focus on patient-centered outcomes.

Practice Info

• Open ICU model where hospitalists may follow patients or sign off via Epic, with intensivists managing all ICU admissions
• Procedures are not required, but hospitalists may perform them if credentialed and comfortable
• 14–16 patient census on 10-hour rounding shifts
• Dedicated admitting shifts: 6–8 admits on days/swings (10 hours) and 8–10 admits on nights (12 hours)
• Supplemental APCs provide cross-coverage only, maintaining a physician-led core model
• Strong case management and social work support, with pharmacy managing med-rec

Compensation

• $173.04 - $213.04 /Hr.

• Shift-Based schedule type
• 2–3 swings and 2–3 nights per month; majority covered by dedicated swing admitters and nocturnists

Requirements

• Board Certified/Eligible in Hospital Medicine by ABIM
• Strong commitment to high-quality, patient-centered care
• Excellent communication and team-based practice skills
• Valid California medical license required prior to start
• Federal unrestricted DEA
