Hospitalist Physician

ATC West Healthcare is seeking a full-time Hospitalist Physician (MD/DO) to join its collaborative, mission-driven inpatient team serving patients across Vermont, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts. This permanent opportunity offers a patient-centered hospital medicine practice in a rural community hospital environment, with strong specialty support, no required procedures, and a focus on evidence-based inpatient care.

• Full-time permanent Hospitalist position
• Inpatient hospital-based practice
• No procedures required
• Not accepting:
  • Locum or locum-to-perm candidates
  • Candidates commuting more than 1 hour

• Provide direct inpatient medical care, including:
  • Admissions
  • Daily rounding
  • Patient discharges
• Evaluate, diagnose, and manage a broad range of acute and chronic medical conditions
• Deliver evidence-based, patient-centered care
• Coordinate transitions of care and treatment planning
• Order, interpret, and act on:
  • Laboratory studies
  • Imaging
  • Diagnostic testing
• Respond to:
  • Codes
  • Rapid response situations
  • Medical emergencies
• Provide ventilator management
• Collaborate closely with:
  • Specialists
  • Primary care providers
  • Nurses
  • Respiratory therapists
  • CRNAs
  • Emergency Medicine physicians
  • Ancillary staff
• Participate in:
  • Interdisciplinary rounds
  • Hospital committees
  • Quality improvement initiatives
  • Performance evaluations
• Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up care
• Maintain accurate and timely EMR documentation
• Specialty backup/support available from:
  • Surgeons for central lines
  • Respiratory therapy
  • Emergency physicians
  • CRNAs

• MD or DO from an accredited medical school required
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in:
  • Internal Medicine, or
  • Family Medicine
• Active Vermont medical license required
• DEA certification required prior to start
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• Ventilator management experience required
• Experience running codes required
• 2 3 years of Hospitalist experience highly preferred
• Rural health experience highly preferred
• Clean malpractice history required
• NPDB Self-Query report within 30 days required at presentation
• Must disclose visa sponsorship needs during submission
