Speech-Language Pathologist Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,440-$2,620
- Assignment Type: 18-week travel contract
- Location: Oakland, California
- Start Date: October 19, 2026
- Schedule: 5 shifts per week, Monday-Friday
- Shift: 8-hour day shifts, approximately 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
- Hours: 40 hours per week
- Healthcare Setting: Hospital-based pediatric speech therapy and acute care
- Patient Population: Pediatric and adolescent patients
- Typical Caseload: Approximately 7 visits per day
- Documentation System: Epic electronic medical record (EMR)
- Orientation: 40 hours
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or equivalent qualifying education
- Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP)
- Active California Speech-Language Pathology license in hand
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- At least 2 years of speech-language pathology experience, including a minimum of 1 year in a hospital setting
- Acute care speech-language pathology experience required
- Teaching-hospital experience required
- Demonstrated ability to use electronic medical records; Epic experience required
- COVID-19 vaccination and booster required, with medical or religious exemptions considered according to policy
- Strong communication, clinical judgment, clinical documentation, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
- Preferred experience includes children's hospitals, pediatric outpatient care, pediatric rehabilitation, and pediatric intensive care
- Evaluate and treat pediatric and adolescent patients with speech, language, communication, cognitive, feeding, and swallowing disorders
- Perform bedside swallow evaluations, oral peripheral examinations, and related dysphagia assessments
- Conduct and interpret modified barium swallow studies when indicated
- Develop individualized plans of care and provide evidence-based speech, language, feeding, and swallowing interventions
- Support patients with developmental delays, language disorders, autism, hearing impairments, neurodevelopmental conditions, traumatic brain injury, and other complex diagnoses
- Use augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) strategies, communication boards, and other assistive communication devices as appropriate
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers about communication strategies, diet modifications, compensatory techniques, and home programs
- Collaborate with physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, pharmacy, social services, interpreters, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team
- Complete timely clinical documentation, reassessments, discharge planning, treatment coding, and plan-of-care updates in Epic
- Participate in group or concurrent therapy and contribute to safe, coordinated patient care
