About the RoleWe are seeking a Hospice Team Physician to provide compassionate, evidence-based medical care to patients living with advanced and life-limiting illnesses. In this role, you will work closely with patients, families, physicians, nurses, advanced practice providers, and other members of the hospice team to promote comfort, dignity, and quality of life.The Hospice Team Physician provides clinical guidance to the interdisciplinary team and helps ensure that patients receive appropriate symptom management, medication oversight, and care planning throughout their hospice experience. The position also includes opportunities to collaborate with community providers and support the ongoing education and development of clinical staff.Position InformationFull-time position based in Dayton, OhioCoverage includes the Southern Ohio service areaPatient care may take place in homes, facilities, and hospice inpatient settingsCombination of in-person care and telehealth servicesWeekend and on-call coverage is requiredMust meet credentialing requirements for the Southern Ohio regionOccasional travel throughout Ohio may be requiredKey ResponsibilitiesEvaluate and manage patients with serious and terminal illnessesDevelop and oversee individualized plans of careProvide guidance regarding pain and symptom managementReview and manage medications as clinically appropriateParticipate in hospice interdisciplinary team meetings and care planningCollaborate with attending physicians, nurses, advanced practice providers, and other care professionalsProvide clinical oversight and support to advanced practice providersAssist with accurate and timely medical documentationSupport hospice staff through clinical consultation and educationMaintain appropriate documentation related to terminal diagnoses and eligibilityParticipate in quality improvement and other clinical initiativesQualificationsMD or DO degreeCurrent, unrestricted Ohio medical licenseActive, unrestricted DEA registrationHospice, palliative medicine, hospital medicine, or related clinical experience preferredExperience caring for patients with advanced or terminal illness preferredBoard certification or eligibility in Hospice & Palliative Medicine preferredCurrent CPR certificationStrong clinical judgment and communication skillsAbility to use electronic medical records and other computer-based systems effectivelyValid driver's license and satisfactory driving historyAutomobile insurance meeting applicable state requirementsAbility to travel between patient locations as neededAbility to work scheduled on-call and weekend rotationsSuccessful completion of required employment screening and background checksCompensation & BenefitsWe recognize that exceptional patient care starts with supporting the people who provide it.
