Hospice Medical Billing SpecialistAlameda Care Hospice is a compassionate, community-focused hospice provider serving patients and families throughout the Bay Area. We are committed to high-quality, patient-centered care while maintaining operational excellence and regulatory compliance.We are seeking an experienced Hospice Medical Billing Specialist to manage our revenue cycle operations. This role is critical for ensuring accurate billing, timely reimbursement, and regulatory compliance across Medicare, Medi-Cal, VA, and private payors.The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and experienced in hospice-specific billing processes.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative, mission-driven team and directly contribute to the financial health and sustainability of our organization.Key ResponsibilitiesClaims & Billing ManagementPrepare, review, and submit accurate monthly hospice claims to Medicare, Medi-Cal, VA, and private insurance payorsManage Letters of Agreement (LOAs) for non-contracted payorsEnsure timely billing in accordance with hospice reimbursement guidelinesCompliance & CodingApply appropriate ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codesMaintain compliance with CMS, CHAP, and state hospice regulationsMonitor regulatory updates and billing requirements affecting hospice servicesNOE & Hospice-Specific ProcessesFile and track Notices of Election (NOEs) and manage hospice election timelinesAddress late NOEs and coordinate corrective actions as neededDenials & Revenue RecoveryResearch, appeal, and resubmit denied or unpaid claimsAnalyze denial trends and implement corrective strategiesIdentify potential funding sources for indigent or unpaid claims when applicableAccounts Receivable & ReportingMonitor daily, weekly, and monthly A/R aging reportsTrack and post payments, adjustments, and contractual write-offsReview billing and collection reports to meet or exceed collection goalsCollaboration & Documentation SupportWork closely with clinical and administrative staff to ensure documentation (CTIs, certifications, election forms) supports billingAttend staff meetings and required in-servicesWhat We OfferSupportive, collaborative team environmentMeaningful work that directly supports patient careOpportunities for professional growth within a respected, mission-driven hospice organizationRequirementsRequired QualificationsMinimum 2 years of hospice medical billing experienceCertification in Medical Billing and/or CollectionsHigh school diploma or equivalentProficiency with EMR systems (hospice EMR experience preferred)Strong understanding of hospice billing regulations and payer requirementsExcellent organizational, time-management, and follow-through skillsStrong verbal and written communication skills with staff, vendors, and payorsAttention to detail and commitment to accuracyAbility to maintain strict HIPAA complianceDependable, ethical, and aligned with Alameda Care Hospice's missionValid driver's license, reliable transportation, and current auto insurance
