Our Christ-centered nonprofit client dedicated to serving adults with disabilities is hiring a Horticulture General Manager. This role is responsible for leading all aspects of a horticulture operation, including financial performance, greenhouse production, inventory management, retail and wholesale operations, facilities, and team leadership. This GM will drive operational excellence, business growth, and continuous improvement while developing a high-performing team and ensuring exceptional customer service.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on operational leader with strong business acumen who can successfully balance production, financial performance, team development, customer relationships, and long-term strategic growth within a commercial horticulture or agricultural operation, including experience with ornamental plants.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop department managers and staff through coaching, performance management, and succession planning.
- Oversee greenhouse production, crop quality, inventory, irrigation, pest management, and equipment maintenance.
- Drive strategic initiatives to increase revenue, improve operational efficiency, and expand retail and wholesale business.
- Partner with sales and marketing to align production, pricing, inventory, and customer demand.
- Manage hiring, scheduling, payroll, budgeting, and workforce planning.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and operational standards while maintaining a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Build strong relationships with customers, vendors, and industry partners to support long-term business growth.
Requirements:
- 7–10+ years of leadership experience in commercial greenhouse, nursery, horticulture, agriculture, or related production environments.
- Bachelor's degree in Horticulture, Floriculture, Agriculture, or a related field preferred.
- Strong background in operations management, financial accountability, budgeting, and strategic planning.
- Experience leading managers and large teams in a fast-paced production environment.
- Proficiency with financial reporting, inventory management, operational analytics, and Microsoft Excel.
- Flexibility to work weekends during busy season
