Homecare Campaign CanvasserLocation: Richmond, Hampton Roads, and Northern Virginia Salary: $26.00 an hourBe part of a historic campaign to uplift Virginia's homecare workers by helping them win collective bargaining rights, improve working conditions, and build long-term worker power. This is a unique opportunity to stand with caregivers—many of whom are women, immigrants, and people of color—and ensure their voices are heard in their workplaces and beyond.Position Details:Duration: Beginning October 1, 2025; campaign role with potential extension based on performanceKey Responsibilities:Worker Engagement & Outreach:Conduct door-to-door canvassing to engage homecare workers in support of the collective bargaining campaignEducate workers on their rights, the benefits of collective bargaining, and how to get involvedListen to worker concerns, identify potential leaders, and recruit participants for campaign events and organizing meetingsMeet weekly outreach and engagement goalsMaintain accurate records of conversations, follow-ups, and commitmentsData Collection & Reporting:Use digital tools like VAN/MiniVAN to log all worker interactionsEnter data consistently and accurately, including worker contact info, interest level, and organizing metricsSync and securely save updates to ensure real-time access for the organizing teamOrganizing & Mobilization:Help mobilize workers for campaign events such as rallies, town halls, and information sessionsSupport workers in taking action—signing petitions, joining committees, and attending meetingsTrack leadership interest, event attendance, and pledge commitmentsTraining & Development:Participate in comprehensive organizing and campaign trainingsAttend storytelling workshops to develop and share your personal narrative as a tool for building trust and connectionJoin regular team meetings to stay aligned on campaign strategy, share updates, and improve field practicesQualifications:Ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced, and team-oriented environmentStrong commitment to economic, racial, and social justice, particularly in support of care workersPrior organizing experience within the labor movement, care economy, or immigrant and Black communities in Virginia is a plus, but not requiredStrong interpersonal and communication skillsComfortable using a script and speaking directly with homecare workers across diverse cultural and language backgroundsReliable transportation and a valid driver's licenseProficient with basic technology: phones, tablets, and organizing tools like VAN/MiniVANDependable, punctual, and able to meet deadlines and goalsComfortable with canvassing and walking for extended periodsStrong attention to detail, especially in data entry and reportingIf you are passionate about organizing, worker justice, and building power from the ground up, we encourage you to apply and join us in transforming the future of homecare work in Virginia.
