Compensation ranges from $180,000-$200,000 per year for 12 appointments a week.

Role Description

The Veterinarian will provide in-home euthanasia services and end-of-life consultations for companion animals in San Diego or Riverside County, CA. This is a contract, on-site role that involves traveling to clients' homes, performing physical assessments, confirming medical history, and discussing options with pet guardians in a sensitive and clear manner. Day-to-day responsibilities includes traveling to clients home administering sedation and euthanasia medications according to established protocols, ensuring patient comfort and safety, and providing guidance on aftercare options such as cremation and memorial services. The Veterinarian will document visits accurately, maintain compliance with state and local veterinary regulations, and coordinate scheduling and follow-up communication as needed. The role requires consistent professional conduct, timely response to service requests, and the ability to work independently in varied home environments. All scheduling and aftercare cremation services are taken care of for you.

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or equivalent) and current, unrestricted license to practice veterinary medicine in California.
  • Experience in small animal practice, with specific comfort and competence in end-of-life care, euthanasia protocols.
  • Comfort working in clients' homes and adapting to different environments while maintaining safety and infection control standards.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to explain medical information clearly and provide emotionally supportive care to clients during difficult situations.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, reliability, and ethical judgment, with a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to all legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to work independently, manage a flexible schedule, and travel throughout the San Diego, CA or Riverside, CA area; valid driver's license and reliable transportation required. Travel with 35 miles from your zip code.
  • Work a total of 12 appointments a week and make over $180,000 a year..
  • Prior exposure to hospice or palliative care, grief support training, or related continuing education is a plus.
