High School Math Teacher
Teaching duties will include Algebra 1, Honors Algebra 1 and possibly Practical Math. Candid with Computer Science certification could also be asked to teach entry level computer classes.
This position provides instruction to students and performs a wide variety of tasks with curriculum planning, supervision, presenting and reinforcing learning concepts, and teaching children in a classroom setting.
Responsibilities include:
- Possess knowledge of the subjects taught and understand which concepts and skills are central to discipline.
- Develop lessons that incorporate other subjects and incorporate skills that are part of other subjects.
- Demonstrate knowledge of not only the subject content, but also knowledge of the students who are learning the appropriate content.
- Direct instructional outcomes that reflect important learning so that all students are able to demonstrate their understanding of the content.
- Recognize the importance in the selection of resources and choose resources that align directly with the learning outcomes and will be of most use to the students.
Qualifications include:
- Teaching license for the particular position as required by the State.
- Familiarity with the use of computers including but not limited to electronic mail, the Internet, word processing, and electronic spreadsheets (Microsoft Office).
- Ability to establish and maintain effective and courteous working relationships with those contacted in the course of work (students, parents, and staff).
- Ability to understand and follow basic oral and written instructions.
- Ability to communicate to students, parents and staff in an acceptable/courteous manner.
