Part-time Spanish High School Equivalency Preparation InstructorThe 32BJ Training Fund is seeking qualified candidates for part-time Spanish High School Equivalency Preparation instructors for classes taught in the Bronx.About Us:SEIU 32BJ is a service union that represents cleaners, maintenance workers, service staff, and security officers in the New York City area and nine other states on the East Coast. Our mission is to educate every member so that they have the tools they need to meet the challenges of a changing industry.Who We're Looking For:Creative, dynamic teachers with good interpersonal skills who enjoy working in diverse linguistic and cultural settingsResponsibilities:Plan and implement lesson plans that are aligned to the program curriculum and incorporate the provided educational materials.Teach course content in Spanish using a student-centered teaching approachMaintain and submit records of attendanceMaintain ongoing communication with supervisorParticipate in relevant professional development activities, as availableQualifications:Fluency in Spanish and EnglishBachelor's degree in education, liberal arts, or related fieldExperience teaching adult basic academic skills (math, writing, reading) in a formal educational setting.Familiarity with student-centered teaching in a multi-level classAbility to use digital platforms to instruct, communicate, and record program data.COVID-19 ConsiderationsRecord of completed COVID-19 vaccine or confirmed medical/religious exemption from the Training FundCompliance with current COVID-19 protocols of the organizationClasses Offered:Saturdays, 9:00 am – 1:00 pmLocation(s):Monroe University, 29 East Fordham Road, BronxCompensation:$50 per teaching hourPaid preparation timePaid in-house training, coaching, and professional development opportunities
