Hematology Oncology Physician

Jackson & Coker is seeking two Hematology Oncology physicians for a locums opportunity in Iowa, starting ASAP and offering ongoing coverage. This role involves scheduled clinical hours and call duties, providing a balanced practice environment. The position offers an engaging opportunity to provide comprehensive care within a supportive hospital setting.

Practice Info

• The practice is located in a 366-bed Level III Trauma Center.
• Patient volume is 16-20 patients per day.
• Average hospital census is 0-2 patients daily.
• Two APPs are on staff, with no supervision required.
• Nursing support ratio of 2 nurses per provider, plus referral and triage nurses.
• Full ancillary team including lab, social work, referrals, dietician, and reception support.
• Onsite lab and pharmacy.
• Services include antineoplastics, phlebotomies, IV IgG infusions, iron therapy, and bone marrow biopsies.
• Four exam rooms available.
• Medical imaging onsite.
• Adult patient population (18+).
• EMR: Epic.

Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient consults; consult volume is very low.
• Field phone calls from hospitalists, as hospitalists admit all patients.
• Provide follow-up care.
• Oversee antineoplastic administration in clinic.

Shift & Schedule

• Minimum availability of 2 weeks per month (Monday - Thursday).
• Monday - Thursday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM.
• 16 shifts per month.
• One week of call per month.
• One weekend of call per month.
• Phone call coverage only.

Requirements

• Board Certified in Hematology and Oncology (Willing to review candidates Board Certified in Oncology with strong Hem/Onc experience).
• Fellowship trained in Hematology and Oncology.
• Active Iowa license or active IMLC.
• Clean malpractice and background history.
• Must be experienced (Will also review new grads).
