HBC Hospitalist Position
The UCSF Division of Hospital Medicine at UCSF Health is seeking applicants for the hematologic malignancy, bone marrow transplant, and cellular therapy (HBC) hospitalist position. Our goal is to provide new faculty members with clinical experiences that match their interests. Many faculty hired as HBC hospitalists ultimately transition to subspecialty fellowships while others remain on the faculty.
Job Details
The HBC (hematologic malignancy, bone marrow transplant, and cellular therapy) service is a collaborative service involving the Division of Hospital Medicine and the Division of Hematology/Oncology at UCSF. The service provides care to inpatients requiring bone marrow transplant or management of malignancies of the hematopoietic system (“liquid tumors”). The service admits approximately 1,200 patients per year.
Created in July 2007, the HBC Service is staffed with a unique hybrid model with collaborative care provided by both hospitalists and oncology faculty. Hospitalists on the HBC service are physicians trained in Internal Medicine who manage day‑to‑day care of the patients while oncology physicians provide the necessary oncologic expertise. The service is organized in teams involving an oncologist, hospitalist, and nurse practitioner.
The service is dedicated to providing the highest quality, safest, equitable, and most compassionate patient‑centered care. The HBC Service thrives on a team model, where nurses, pharmacists, and physicians work closely together to maximize patient‑centered care.
Please contact John Dzundza ( ) or Madison Paddock ( ) with any questions.
