Job Summary:

This position provides direct patient care related to physical diagnosis and therapeutic management in an ambulatory and/or inpatient setting for patients with complex medical conditions or surgical needs. Works closely with faculty, fellows, residents, and nursing staff to develop and coordinate a care plan that meets the needs of patients and their families. Some off-hour, weekend, and on-call work may be required.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Performs history and physical examinations, formulates care plans, orders and interprets laboratory and diagnostic tests, and educates patients and families.
  • Acts as an educator and serves as a clinical resource for staff through consultation, education, literature review, and participation in seminars and conferences.
  • Coordinates patient care to ensure safe, effective, efficient, and timely patient-centered care. Liaises among visiting nurses, clinical staff, and consulting services. Develops comprehensive care plans and consults with physicians or surgeons for complex diagnoses.
  • Documents clinical encounters clearly, accurately, and promptly.
  • Collaborates with other health professionals to determine patient and family health needs, demonstrating an interdisciplinary approach.
  • Provides direct care and management for all opioid patients.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Nursing (preferred: higher degree)
  • Nursing License and Basic Life Support Certification
  • 0-1 years of related experience
  • MA Board authorization to practice as an APRN (NRSG)
  • Valid prescriptive authority from MA DPH-DCP and Federal DEA
  • American Heart Association - Basic Life Support Certificate
  • Experience with computer systems, including web-based applications and Microsoft Office suite

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a teaching hospital and specialty expertise
  • Experience in Pain Management

Competencies:

  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • In-depth knowledge of healthcare practices and policies
  • Ability to lead collaborative teams and provide excellent customer service

Physical Requirements:

Medium work: exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently. Requires standing and moving throughout most of the shift.

All staff must be vaccinated against influenza and COVID-19 as a condition of employment.
