nAs an Aircraft Pilot, GS- you may be expected to accomplish the following:n
n
  • n Pilot a variety of fixed wing twin engine airplanes and utility helicopters to transport passengers and cargo to and from a variety of pointsn
  • n Operates aircraft with short takeoff and landing capability, generally in good or fair weather conditions, but may include all types of weather, day and night over terrain such as forests, marshlands, mountain ranges, and open seas.n
  • n Performs maintenance operation checks (MOCs) and limited and general test flights of aircraft to ensure airworthiness upon completion of extensive disassembly for maintenance, repair or replacement of components or aircraft systems.n
  • n Performs general or limited test flights of aircraft when ground diagnostic tests cannot determine the safe and/or proper functioning of aircraft components or systems.n

  • n Piloting and instructing pilot skills in one or more of the following main-frame/military aircraft:n

  • n Training and instructing others in the piloting of a specified main-frame military aircraftn

  • n Traditional "stick and rudder" type controls for piloting aircraft direction, altitude, and speedn

  • n Planning, scheduling, and conducting training flights through Federal Aviation Administration controlled national airspacen

  • n Conducting particular missions and flying specific main-frame aircraft in combat tacticsn
  • n

  • n Flying in mountainous terrainn

  • n Performing tactical remote site evaluationsn
  • n

  • n Performing landings on remote sitesn

  • n Providing ground and flight trainingn

  • n Conducting night-vision operations or instructionsn

n1. Undergraduate degree from an accredited college/universityn

n2. A Graduate Degree from an accredited civilian academic college or from an equivalent professional military education school is optimumn

n3. Federal Aviation Administration certifications awarded from an accredited civilian aviation program OR must have aviation certification from accredited military aviation school.n
