We specialize in the development of innovative and customized dockside, road and rail handling solutions.Job DescriptionThe Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing heavy mobile equipment used in marine terminal operations.
This includes forklifts, cranes, loaders, terminal tractors, and other diesel-powered equipment critical to cargo handling operations. The mechanic will support safe and efficient terminal operations while working in a fast-paced industrial environment.Responsibilities:Perform preventative maintenance and inspections on heavy mobile equipmentDiagnose and repair diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and transmissionsTroubleshoot equipment issues using diagnostic tools and softwareRepair or replace mechanical and hydraulic components as neededEnsure all repairs are completed in compliance with company and safety standardsMaintain accurate maintenance and repair recordsAssist with emergency repairs to support terminal operationsOperate shop equipment and support other maintenance personnel when requiredWhat It Takes To Succeed:Experience repairing heavy mobile equipment, forklifts, cranes, loaders, or similar industrial equipmentKnowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and troubleshooting proceduresAbility to work safely in an industrial marine terminal environmentStrong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skillsAbility to work outdoors in varying weather conditionsAbility to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding workValid driver's license requiredMust provide own toolsPrevious port, terminal, railroad, construction, or industrial equipment experience is an assetQualificationsWhat We Offer:Various training courses on machinery and health and safetyHourly pay starting at $38.05Safe and team-oriented work environmentExposure to a wide variety of heavy equipment and terminal operationsWork Schedule:Flexible schedule requiring on-call availabilityWeekly hours may vary based on operational needsRotating schedules may include days, nights, evenings, weekends, and holidaysAdditional InformationQSL and all entities under the QSL name including Sycamore Specialized Carriers are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
