We provide services to our community by maintaining vehicles that journey over 24 million miles a year, covering 9,224 square miles of Maricopa County.

Join a team of highly trained professionals who have developed an extensive maintenance and asset management program to ensure our vehicles are operating efficiently and safely.We Require:Two years of heavy-duty and off-road equipment mechanic experienceHigh school diploma or GEDMust possess a valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) issued by the state of ArizonaOther Requirements:Must undergo drug and alcohol testing before employment and will be subject to further drug and alcohol testing throughout employment per County Policy and FTA RegulationsMust obtain necessary emission certification license through the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) within 90 days of hire to perform emissions testing and compliance activities; obtaining this certification is a condition of employmentMust possess the tools required to perform maintenance and repairs on heavy trucks and equipment in an efficient mannerJob Contributions:Inspect, diagnose, and perform complex repairs on heavy-duty vehicles and equipment, including engine systems, electrical/electronic components, braking, climate control, drivetrain, suspension, and body systems; test for proper operation and estimate repair time and costPerform routine preventative maintenance on all vehicles, including oil and filter changes, equipment inspections, and thorough annual inspections on vehicles exceeding 24,000 pounds GVW, in accordance with Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) regulations, to ensure safety compliance and operational readiness, and conduct vehicle emissions testing to ensure compliance with state and federal environmental regulationsPerform road and operational tests of vehicles and heavy equipment after repairs to verify safe, reliable performance; document test results and any follow-up repairsPerform minor metal and material fabrication using appropriate tools and equipment to modify, repair, or reinforce heavy-duty vehicle and equipment components in accordance with operational and safety standardsMaintain service records and repair documentation, including work orders, labor estimates, expenditures, and project status, for input into the fleet tracking systemPromote and maintain a safe and compliant work environment by upholding safety standards, maintaining shop cleanliness, and proactively identifying and reporting hazards to leadershipOther duties as assignedWorking Conditions:This position requires the employee to be in the office/field or customer-facing for all hours workedExerting 50 - 100 pounds occasionally, 10 - 25 pounds frequently, or up to 10 - 20 pounds constantly. May be required to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, and squat for extended periodsIncumbent may be subjected to extreme temperatures, wetness/humidity, respiratory hazards, and noise and vibrationIncumbent may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, intense noises, and travelMachines, Tools, Equipment, Software, and Hardware:All specialized equipment, software, and hardware will be provided by Equipment Services.
