Heavy Equipment OperatorThis is a highly skilled position involving the operation of heavy equipment on road, site or highway construction.Key Responsibilities:Must possess a solid understanding of all aspects of the construction industry including preparatory work, grades, drainage, job specifications, oil consistencies, compaction and other details related to gradingProperly follow all company policies and OSHA regulations for safe working procedures and environmentAlways maintaining courteous and professional manner with co-workers, customers and public.Qualifications:Education/Experience: High school degree or equivalent is preferred but not requiredMust have proven experience. Must be able to pass field test.Work Requirements:Physical ability to operate equipment under temperature extremes and for extended hours of time.May oil, grease, service and make normal operating adjustments to the equipmentAbility to operate or initiative to learn to operate other equipment requiredAbility to be flexible with last-minute schedule changes, location changes, time of shift changes.Ability to follow instructions and practice safety standards per Company Safety Policy requirementsAbility to adhere to PPE (personal protective equipment) policy and maintain individual PPE in a functional condition as supplied by companyRequires riding to and from job sites. If operating company vehicle, employee must meet Company Driver Qualification Standard.Knowledge/Skill Requirements:Ability to understand grades and elevations in site work.Physical Requirements:Following motions may be required: climbing, sitting, stooping, bending, squatting, lifting, stretching, driving, pushing, pulling, vibration, twisting, kneeling, throwing, reachingVision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perceptionMust be able to adapt and work in extreme weather temperaturesAbility to lift up to 50 lbs for repetitious lifting while using proper lifting techniques.Work Environment:Ability to work in various weather conditions.The statements included in this job description are not intended to be all-inclusive.
