Heavy Equipment OperatorUnder the supervision of the Distribution Superintendent, operates and maintains heavy equipment to include backhoe, excavator, front end loader and tractor. Operates equipment in support of new water line installations, water line repairs, valve installations, valve repairs, sludge removal, sludge hauling, grounds maintenance, pavement repairs, and concrete repairs.1. Responsible for the safe operation of all assigned equipment.2. Operates equipment to excavate or move soils, rock, sand gravel and other materials3. Performs variety of tasks including trenching and placement of underground infrastructure.4.
Works in proximity of underground utilities such as water, electric, telephone, and gas.5. Locates utilities and other buried lines prior to digging utilizing Texas 811 system.6. Locate and identify all underground utilities by means of hand-digging, shovel or vac system.7. Responsible for safe slopes on excavations and proper barricading.8. Ensures that all trench safety is applied according to OSHA standards.9.
May drive machinery on roadways to workplace.10. Moves heavy equipment using trailers.11. Performs non-machine tasks such as placing pipe in trench, hand digging, and tapping.12. Replaces angle stops, meter boxes, and meters.13. Completes and fills out work orders.14.
Keeps equipment serviced, lubricated, and in good working order.15. Must be on call as assigned on nights, weekends, holidays, and during inclement weather and especially during emergency situations.16. Performs other job duties as assigned.
