Equipment OperatorAt his/her assigned location, the Equipment Operator will operate and maintain assigned equipment. The operator will move and transport various cargos on land, in barges, in ships and other areas that may be considered confined. This individual will also assist with decking and other labor responsibilities when not operating equipment.Responsible for the safe operation of assigned equipment (track hoe, front-end wheel loader, bobcat, dozer, manlift, etc.) in areas such as ship and barge hold, crane and barge deck, and dock areas while navigating around other equipment and personnel.
Moves cargoes to desired location for transloading.Ensures the maintenance of all assigned equipment including performing pre-job inspections and periodic maintenance. This includes but is not limited to the replacement/inspection of all fluids, filters, fuels, and greasing systems.Acts as signal man for other equipment operators and crane operatorsPerform all required deckhand dutiesComplete daily inspection reports and forwards to maintenance as neededReport ALL incidents through company's reporting protocolSupport company safety initiativesDemonstration of knowledge of all required competenciesPerform other duties as requiredAt least 2 years of heavy equipment experience in a maritime/ stevedoring environment preferred.High school or equivalent (preferred)Experience in a similar position in an industrial setting (preferred)Working Experience in the stevedoring industry (preferred)Ability to safely operate assigned equipmentAbility to operate heavy equipment within a confined spaceThorough knowledge of rig operation and maintenance programsThorough knowledge of personnel safety programsProficiency in equipment and deck operationsBe physically fit to perform all essential physical demands of this job safelyDemonstrated safe work practices, history, and leadership abilityAdvocate of team conceptCommitment to customer serviceAbility to work in a team-oriented environmentMust comply with all operational directives and company policiesIncumbent will work in all weather conditions ranging from warm/hot-cool/cold as well as occasional rain. Will work at different elevations, noise levels will be moderate-high.
Job site will contain light to heavy equipment vehicles, small to large equipment, materials, communication equipment, and tools.The physical nature of the work will vary from day to day based on operational needs; however the job will require the incumbent to be able to perform: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, typing, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motion. The incumbent will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including, but not limited to: Hard Hat, eyewear, safety vests, gloves, masks/ respirators (when necessary) and steel-toe boots.Very Heavy Work: Exerting in excess of 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/ or in excess of 50 lbs.
