Heavy Equipment Operations Training CoordinatorType: Full-Time Reports To: Director of Postsecondary and Workforce EducationQualifications:Required: 5+ years experience operating heavy equipment with a strong background in safety and maintenance in a construction-oriented environment Minimum of 1-3 years experience mentoring and/or training within the field of Heavy Equipment Operations OSHA Construction Industry Certification Strong knowledge of industry needs and standards Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships within the industry Ability to maintain a high degree of flexibility with scheduling to accommodate the needs of students and businesses Excellent written and verbal communication skillsPreferred: Experience developing training programs CDL Class A/B License Strong professional network within the industryResponsibilities:Instruct students in rules and regulations, equipment inspection, the safe operation of Heavy Equipment, and skills and knowledge associated with the trade.Develop, revise, and implement the curriculum as it pertains to the instructional area in accordance with established guidelines and format.Develop, revise, and implement instructional activities and materials to support the curriculum.Provide a safe learning environmentAssist the Administration in designing, updating and implementing training programs and customized job training that meet industry needs and standardsCollaborate with industry Occupational Advisory Council to seek recommendations for program and curriculum improvements, safety improvements and standards and equipment updates and purchasesMaintain instructional equipment and provide for repairs as needed, in collaboration with the Secondary Heavy Equipment programPrepare lesson plansMaintain daily attendance recordsAssess student learning on a regular basis; maintain reports and training recordsUtilize a variety of instructional delivery methods in order to motivate students and promote learning and engagementDevelop and maintain appropriate classroom management strategiesProvide job placement information and assistance to studentsSupervisory Responsibilities:Instructor schedulingDaily logistics and planningMentor/train new instructorsSubmit purchase requisitions for approval of necessary operational supplies, equipment and repairsMaintain appropriate communication with the department with all operational matters pertaining to the training programAssist with marketing and advertising to help grow the programRecruit, interview and submit new applicants for enrollment into the programGenerate new leads and sign new clients for company customized trainingMaintain positive public image and relationships with business, industry and general publicRepresent LCTI at events as necessaryOther duties as assignedCompetencies:Maintain a professional attitude and appearance.
