Job Title: Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic
Employment Type: Full-Time
Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and dependable Heavy-Duty Diesel Technician / Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy-duty diesel vehicles and equipment. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical and diagnostic skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

The mechanic will be responsible for maintaining trucks, trailers, construction equipment, and other diesel-powered vehicles to ensure they remain safe, reliable, and operational.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, steering, and electrical systems.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and routine inspections on heavy-duty vehicles and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Perform engine tune-ups, oil changes, brake repairs, and other scheduled maintenance.
  • Inspect vehicles and equipment for safety, performance, and regulatory compliance.
  • Use diagnostic equipment and computerized systems to identify mechanical and electrical problems.
  • Repair and replace defective components, parts, and assemblies.
  • Maintain accurate service and repair records.
  • Respond to breakdowns and perform roadside or field repairs when required.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and properly care for tools and equipment.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and applicable DOT and environmental regulations.
  • Communicate repair needs and vehicle status with supervisors and fleet personnel.
  • Perform other maintenance duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 1+ years of experience working as a diesel mechanic or heavy-duty mechanic preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, drivetrain, brake, suspension, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • Experience servicing heavy-duty trucks, trailers, buses, construction equipment, or similar equipment.
  • Ability to use electronic diagnostic tools and repair manuals.
  • Ability to read and understand technical service information and wiring diagrams.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • CDL Class A or B is a plus.
  • Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy parts and equipment.
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, crawl, and work in confined or awkward positions for extended periods.
  • Ability to work outdoors and in varying weather conditions when required.
  • Ability to safely operate shop equipment, tools, lifts, and diagnostic equipment.

Work Environment
