Job Title: Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and dependable Heavy-Duty Diesel Technician / Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy-duty diesel vehicles and equipment. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical and diagnostic skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
The mechanic will be responsible for maintaining trucks, trailers, construction equipment, and other diesel-powered vehicles to ensure they remain safe, reliable, and operational.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, steering, and electrical systems.
- Perform preventive maintenance and routine inspections on heavy-duty vehicles and equipment.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Perform engine tune-ups, oil changes, brake repairs, and other scheduled maintenance.
- Inspect vehicles and equipment for safety, performance, and regulatory compliance.
- Use diagnostic equipment and computerized systems to identify mechanical and electrical problems.
- Repair and replace defective components, parts, and assemblies.
- Maintain accurate service and repair records.
- Respond to breakdowns and perform roadside or field repairs when required.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and properly care for tools and equipment.
- Follow all company safety procedures and applicable DOT and environmental regulations.
- Communicate repair needs and vehicle status with supervisors and fleet personnel.
- Perform other maintenance duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 1+ years of experience working as a diesel mechanic or heavy-duty mechanic preferred.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, drivetrain, brake, suspension, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
- Experience servicing heavy-duty trucks, trailers, buses, construction equipment, or similar equipment.
- Ability to use electronic diagnostic tools and repair manuals.
- Ability to read and understand technical service information and wiring diagrams.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver's license required.
- CDL Class A or B is a plus.
- Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry heavy parts and equipment.
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, crawl, and work in confined or awkward positions for extended periods.
- Ability to work outdoors and in varying weather conditions when required.
- Ability to safely operate shop equipment, tools, lifts, and diagnostic equipment.

Work Environment
This position may involve working in a repair shop, fleet yard, construction site. The mechanic must be comfortable working around heavy machinery, diesel exhaust, oils, fuels, and other shop-related materials while following appropriate safety procedures.
