Heavy Civil Project Engineer/Asst. Project Manager

PROJECT ENGINEER / ASSISTANT PROJECT MANAGER | CHICAGO SUBURBS

I’m working with a well-established infrastructure and heavy civil contractor that is looking to add a Project Engineer or Assistant Project Manager to their Chicago-area team.

This is a great opportunity for someone with a background in heavy civil, transportation, roadway, bridge, or infrastructure construction who wants to take the next step in their career with a company handling complex, high-profile projects.

What you’ll be doing:

• Work closely with Project Managers and field leadership on major construction projects

• Assist with project controls, scheduling, budgets, and cost tracking

• Manage RFIs, change orders, submittals, and project documentation

• Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, clients, and field teams

• Review plans, specifications, and contract documents

• Help ensure projects stay on schedule, within budget, and meet quality and safety expectations

What they’re looking for:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred

• Heavy civil construction experience

• Project Engineer or APM experience within roadway, bridge, transportation, utilities, or similar infrastructure work

• Strong organizational and communication skills

• Ability to work effectively with both field and project management teams

• IDOT / Illinois Tollway experience is a plus

Compensation: $90,000–$120,000
