The Hearing Examiner will report to the Chief Hearing Examiner and serve in the Office of Administrative Hearings within the Office of Cannabis Management. The role involves presiding over administrative hearings of an adversarial nature related to cannabis licensing and enforcement, preparing post-hearing findings of fact and recommendations, and ensuring fairness and due process throughout proceedings. The position is part-time (50%, 18.75 hours per week) and temporary, based in Albany, NY.
Key qualifications
- Admitted to the New York State Bar, currently in good standing
- Four years of post-Bar legal experience in trial of issues in courts of record or adversarial proceedings before a government agency
- Valid Driver's License issued by NYS Department of Motor Vehicle or demonstrated capacity to meet transportation needs
- Ability to maintain fairness, impartiality, and due process per NY State Administrative Procedure Act
