SUMMARY

The Health Services Specialist will provide triage and direct appropriate medical care to Seaboard Triumph Food employees who are injured on the job. The specialist will support the Nurse Manager as needed in maintaining the workers compensation files, maintaining OSHA logs, scheduling doctor appointments, maintaining contact with claimants, assisting with restricted duty program, etc.

  • Hours of Work: Health Specialist in OHS work 12hour rotating shifts. Days start time or . Day will be discussed during interview process.
  • Days of Work: Typically, Monday-Friday as scheduled by management and weekends if needed by operations and approved by management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Triage, treat (first aid) and direct appropriate medical care as needed for all work-related injuries and illnesses within company protocols.
  • Accurate and timely completion of First Reports of Injury and enter the Safety app. Maintain and update employee workers comp records in CCMSI’s ICE system according to established policies /procedures.
  • Effectively communicate and update all members of the health services department on the status of claimants.
  • Effectively communicate with the Nurse manager, health services specialists and operation management keeping them updated and informed on open claims, status of injured employees and any specific issues.
  • Act as a liaison between health professionals, work comp adjusters, nurse manager and management regarding the status of injured employees.
  • Maintain the accuracy and timeliness of data entry on the OSHA 300 Log under the direction of the Nurse Manager.
  • Maintains complete confidentiality of all medical data in accordance with HIPPA regulations.
  • Adhere and support all values/Codes of Conduct of the company at all times.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have a current unrestricted RN, LPN license or National Registered Paramedic (NR-P) EMT certification. Experience

  • 1–3 years of EMS, industrial, occupational health, emergency response, or clinic experience
  • Injury and illness triage skills
  • Workers' compensation knowledge
  • Return-to-work and accommodation coordination
  • Drug and alcohol testing experience
  • OSHA compliance awareness
  • Health promotion and wellness program experience
  • CPR/BLS certification (ACLS preferred for some settings)
  • Strong documentation and case management skills
