Health Information Management (HIM) DirectorLocation: Los Alamos, NM Employment Type: Full-Time Openings: 1 We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Health Information Management (HIM) Director to lead and oversee health information operations in Los Alamos, NM. The ideal candidate will ensure the integrity, accuracy, and security of patient health records while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards.Key ResponsibilitiesOversee daily operations of the Health Information Management (HIM) departmentEnsure accurate, complete, and secure patient health recordsMaintain compliance with healthcare regulations, including HIPAADevelop and implement HIM policies, procedures, and best practicesLead audits and ensure data integrity and confidentialityCollaborate with clinical, administrative, and IT teamsTrain, mentor, and manage HIM staffReview staff performance and administer corrective actions when necessaryManage department budgets, reporting, and performance metricsMust-Have QualificationsBachelor's Degree in a related field (preferred)RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician) or RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator) certificationMust reside in or be willing to relocate to Los Alamos within 45 daysStrong understanding of healthcare regulatory and compliance requirements (e.g., HIPAA)Nice-To-Have QualificationsPrior experience in an acute care settingExperience in staff training, development, performance reviews, and corrective actionsRequired SkillsStrong leadership and team management abilitiesIn-depth knowledge of HIM practices, compliance, and regulationsExcellent organizational and data management skillsStrong analytical and problem-solving capabilitiesEffective communication and stakeholder management skillsEducation & CertificationBachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field (preferred)RHIT or RHIA certification (required)Work EnvironmentHealthcare administrative settingHospital / acute care environment (preferred)Collaborative multidisciplinary team
