David D Hunting YMCA Health & Wellness Specialist
This position is for our David D Hunting YMCA in Downtown Grand Rapids. The Health & Wellness Specialist provides fitness equipment orientations, promotes YMCA health and wellness services, maintains and cleans equipment, and enforces recreation guidelines. Varying schedule, Monday through Friday shifts available in the early morning, afternoon, and evening.
Essential functions include demonstrating proper equipment use and exercise form, monitoring member activities on the fitness equipment, indoor track, gym floor and locker rooms, maintaining all areas in clean, presentable fashion, providing outstanding member service, giving tours to prospective members, handling member complaints, staying current with advances in the health and wellness field, setting up equipment for group exercise and various sports activities, and enforcing YMCA member guidelines. Performs any other functions deemed necessary for the smooth and efficient operation of the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids.
Compensation is $14.35 - $17.93; part time; non-exempt (up to 25hrs/week).

Qualifications include a high school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) required. This location requires highly qualified Health & Wellness Specialists, therefore it is required that candidates are either currently pursuing a health and wellness related degree, hold a health and wellness related degree, and/or have an active Personal Training Certification. Ability to interact with people of all ethnic backgrounds, ages, and lifestyles. Ability to actively take part and lead fitness activities. Working knowledge of computers and experience with a variety of software applications. YMCA experience preferred.
Certificates, licenses, registration include CPR, AED, Oxygen and First Aid Certification required within first 60 days, blood borne pathogen training, and State of Michigan criminal background clearance (ICHAT).
