AI is rapidly becoming part of how every company operates. Employees are adopting copilots, teams are building agents, and critical work is spreading across an increasingly complex mix of models, tools, workflows, and automations.
Proxon is building the management layer for this new reality: one system of record that helps companies discover, govern, fund, measure, and scale AI work.
We’re looking for a Head of Marketing to make Proxon synonymous with this emerging category—and establish us as its defining company.
THE OPPORTUNITY
Reporting directly to the CEO, you’ll own Proxon’s market narrative and turn it into demand, customer momentum, and lasting category authority. This is a hands‑on leadership role for someone who can set the growth strategy, build the function, and create the work.
The fundamentals matter: positioning, content, launches, lifecycle, demand generation, events, sales enablement, measurement, and team building. You should know how to execute those exceptionally well.
But the standard playbook is only the starting point.
We want someone with a genuine experimental instinct: someone who generates unexpected ideas, gets them into the market quickly, learns from real signals, and keeps refining the approach until it connects. You should be excited to invent campaigns, formats, partnerships, experiences, and distribution strategies that other companies would not think to try.
Proxon is moving quickly into a market that is still taking shape. This role calls for someone eager to plant a clear flag, make consequential bets, and build the conviction that Proxon is not simply participating in the category—we are setting its direction.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Define and own Proxon’s marketing strategy across category creation, brand, product marketing, content, demand, and customer marketing.
- Work directly with the CEO to shape the company narrative, market position, and go‑to‑market priorities.
- Build a compelling position around managing the AI workforce and make it resonate with executives across technology, operations, finance, security, and governance.
- Develop a distinctive point of view that shapes how the market talks about AI adoption, ownership, spend, policy, performance, and outcomes.
- Create ambitious campaigns that earn attention and generate conversation—not merely fill a content calendar.
- Run a disciplined experimentation engine: form hypotheses, launch quickly, measure honestly, and build on what works.
- Turn customer insight, product capabilities, and market shifts into memorable stories and high‑impact launches.
- Build repeatable demand programs while continuing to explore unconventional paths to awareness and growth.
- Partner closely with product, design, sales, and customer teams.
- Build the marketing organization, operating rhythm, and measurement systems needed for the next stage of growth.
- Establish clear goals and accountability for pipeline, adoption, market presence, and brand authority.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- Significant marketing/growth leadership experience in enterprise software, AI, infrastructure, data, security, or another category that required customer education.
- A track record of creating or reshaping a category—not merely promoting an established one.
- Strong command of positioning, product marketing, brand, demand generation, content, and go‑to‑market strategy.
- Excellent editorial judgment and the ability to turn complex technology into clear, compelling narratives.
- Evidence that you have devised original programs, brought them to market, and learned your way toward exceptional results.
- Comfort moving between strategy and execution. You can develop the narrative in the morning and help ship the campaign that afternoon.
- A bias toward speed, iteration, and measurable impact.
- The conviction to take a strong market position before consensus forms.
- High standards paired with intellectual humility: you make bold bets, carefully observe the evidence, and change course when the market teaches you something.
- The ability to attract, develop, and lead exceptional people.
- The desire to work closely with the team in San Francisco. This is an on‑site, SF‑only role.
YOU’LL THRIVE HERE IF YOU
- See a blank page as an opportunity.
- Believe creativity is a working discipline, not a brainstorming exercise.
- Are energized by markets where the language, expectations, and leaders have not yet been settled.
- Keep going when the first idea does not land—and get smarter with every iteration.
- Want the responsibility and pace that come with building a startup into a consequential company.
- Care deeply about both the quality of the work and the business result it produces.
