Head of Global Policy

At Scale, we believe that AI will dramatically improve the world, and our mission is to accelerate the development of AI. As Scale continues to grow its Government Relations function, we are looking for a Head of Global Policy to support our engagements with Congress, government agencies, industry trade associations, and more.

Responsibilities

• Own Scale’s global policy strategy across all issue areas, including AI governance, federal procurement, international AI safety frameworks, and more.
• Lead and grow a team of policy professionals, setting priorities and managing execution across a complex portfolio.
• Translate business objectives into policy outcomes.
• Serve as Scale’s senior voice at trade associations, standards bodies, and industry coalitions; drive consensus on Scale’s priority positions.
• Brief and advise Scale’s executive leadership on regulatory and legislative developments affecting the business.
• Lead Scale’s response to Rulemakings, Requests for Comments, and regulatory proceedings across jurisdictions.
• Build and maintain relationships with senior government officials, agency leads, and legislative staff in the U.S. and internationally.

Qualifications

• 8+ years experience in policy or government.
• Experience successfully securing consensus for priorities at trade associations and standards bodies.
• Experience leading company response to rulemakings, requests for comments, and similar processes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Previous technical experience such as publishing research, covering technology policy within the government, or working in the technology sector.
• A history of managing multiple work streams simultaneously.

Nice to Haves

• History working within a startup environment or tech company.
• Active U.S. Top Secret or Secret clearance.

Compensation & Benefits

Base Salary – Pay transparency for full‑time positions:

• San Francisco, New York, Seattle: $197,600 – $272,000 USD
• Washington DC, Texas, Colorado, Hawaii: $177,600 – $245,000 USD

In addition to base salary, eligible roles receive equity and benefits, including comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage; retirement benefits; a learning and development stipend; and generous PTO. Additional benefits may include a commuter stipend.
