Head of Global Medical Affairs

Primary Responsibilities

• Build out and lead the medical affairs function to support commercial launches of new products.
• Lead, manage, and develop a best-in-class medical affairs team and related support functions.
• Identify, define, and implement process and operating procedures aligned with development organization guidance.
• Develop and manage Medical Science Liaison and Medical Information teams.
• Develop and implement Medical Communication and Disease State Awareness strategies.
• Develop and execute life cycle management plans.
• Partner with KOLs to gather information on focused therapeutic area issues and questions.
• Lead product publication plans, KOL engagement plans, medical education plans, advisory boards, medical symposia, congress activities, and compassionate use/post-trial access programs.
• Collaborate with Clinical Development and Commercial to develop medically accurate education for providers and patients.
• Understand government/industry guidelines and regulations for scientific/medical exchange and communication.
• Provide input to deliver integrated evidence supporting reimbursement and market-access strategies.
• Help develop overall strategic direction and operating plans with senior management.
• Represent the company at conferences, presentations, industry, and investment groups.

Qualifications

• MD, PhD, or PharmD required; passion for neuroscience.
• 15+ years’ medical affairs leadership experience in pharma, including global experience.
• Proven ability to build and develop high-performing medical affairs teams.
• Visionary, cross-functional leader with strong influencing and communication skills.
• Prior experience in a small/entrepreneurial setting preferred.
• Excellent ability to communicate complex scientific data to diverse audiences.
• Strong healthcare understanding and curiosity for business opportunities.
• Customer-focused; patient/payer/physician-centered mindset.
• Extensive specialty drug launch/commercialization experience; direct FDA and international regulatory interaction highly desirable.

Compensation

Annualized base salary: $310,000–$360,000 USD.
