Head of Finance - Private Equity

A private equity firm based in Columbia, MO is hiring a Finance Leader to oversee financial operations across its portfolio companies.

About the Role

You’ll lead a team of three and be responsible for partnering with portfolio company controllers and CFOs to ensure clean, timely monthly closes, reviewing and consolidating financials across entities with varying levels of sophistication, supporting due diligence on new acquisitions, and managing fund-level accounting and tax compliance. The portfolio companies close their own books; your job is to receive those financials, review them, and flag issues. This is a hands‑on role. Some portfolio companies have seasoned CFOs and tight processes. Others are smaller, earlier in their financial maturity, and need more support. You need to be comfortable operating across that full spectrum.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of three.
• Partner with portfolio company controllers and CFOs.
• Ensure clean, timely monthly closes.
• Review and consolidate financials across entities.
• Manage fund-level accounting and tax compliance.
• Receive and review financials from portfolio companies.
• Flag issues and provide clarity on financials.

Required Skills

• Strong foundation in GAAP accounting.
• Multi-entity financial oversight.
• Experience in managing financial operations.

Preferred Skills

• Due diligence experience on acquisitions.
• Tax compliance familiarity.
• Fund accounting experience is nice to have, not required.
