Head of Drug Safety & Pharmacovigilance - Small Biotech with Commercialized Product!

Overview:

We are partnering with an innovative, well-backed clinical & commercial-stage biotech company focused on rare diseases with high unmet need. As the company moves toward potential commercialization of its lead program, they are seeking a Head of Drug Safety to lead and build out the global pharmacovigilance function. This is a high-impact, senior leadership role reporting directly into the executive team, with full ownership of both medical safety and PV operations across clinical and post-marketing programs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Build and lead the global Drug Safety organization
• Oversee all aspects of pharmacovigilance, including safety strategy, case processing, signal detection, and risk management
• Provide medical review and benefit-risk assessments across the product lifecycle
• Serve as the company’s safety expert in interactions with regulatory authorities
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Clinical Development, Regulatory, Quality, and Commercial teams
• Ensure full compliance with global safety regulations and internal SOPs

Qualifications:

• MD or equivalent required
• Proven track record in global pharmacovigilance leadership roles, ideally across both development and post-marketing
• Deep understanding of medical safety and PV operations
• Experience leading safety strategy in rare disease, neurology, or endocrine spaces a plus
• Strong leadership, collaboration, and communication skills
• Comfortable in a fast-paced, hands-on biotech environment
